  • To get there you do not know how many flights of stairs ... The Church and very beautiful both outside and inside. Upon arrival from the bottom of the last staircase the view that presents itself is awesome, the facade is impressive!!

  • Beautiful ... The staircase is really impressive, the ascent a little difficult but doable, because it is worth stopping at the end of the different traits and observe how it changes the perspective on the Church and the view from the other side. Would be alone in the city, which, however, has many more treasures to show! Shame about the nets inside, I was given to understand that fall from the ceiling stucco, I truly hope that a masterpiece like this can be maintained in good condition!

  • The Baroque church of St. George is a beautiful example of the finest architecture of our country. Modica is fantastic as its Cathedral.

  • St George's Cathedral is the mother church of the city of Modica, Ragusa, in the free Community Council and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is often referred to and reported as monument symbol of Sicilian Baroque, which represents the most scenic and monumental architecture. The art historian Maurizio Fagiolo dell'arco said that the Church "should be included among the seven wonders of the Baroque world." [1] the building is the end result of eighteenth-century reconstruction, following the six disastrous earthquakes that struck Modica in 1542, in 1613 and 1693 (the most serious, see earthquake of Val di Noto); minor damage brought successive earthquakes in the area during the 18th century, and in 1848 the iblea.
