  • We were on our tour of Parma-Bologna, Modena and passed because of the good reviews at the Villa. The great gate was locked, we dared us to ring the Bell. It was just opened and we got a super nice, informative private tour, even with tasting without registration. The young lady was there with zeal led us into the mysteries of balsamico traditional. We were thrilled and pleased with as much courtesy and friendliness, even though we were in cycling clothing with only small backpack there. Thank you!!

  • Free tour by appointment, in English (in french if you are in a group of french). We explain the synthesis of classic vinegar of Modena. The manufacturing process is carried out through at least 5 barrels size and different Woods. The smallest shell contains the oldest nectar' the bigger the younger nectar. Each year of the evaporation, was the smallest is complete with the nectar of the year of before IE with the directly largest barrel which itself is complete with one of biggest avant.le of drums is complete with juice of grapes cooked for 24 hours. And this process is applied for at least 12 years, not before, to get a few bottles of this wonder. The explanation ends with a tasting of vinegar from the youngest to the oldest (25 years) followed by an ice cream heaped vinegar (but not the Clasico, the Nero). A treat! Then we went upstairs to the acetaia where barrels containing vinegar centenary. At the end of the visit, you can buy a few bottles without being pushed (personally ' I could not resist and then anyway I came to it!). FYI, the prices are the following: €40 the Clasico 12 years 10cl, €75 Clasico 25 years 10cl, €200 the Clasico ageless 10 cl, €20 the Nero (is not the Clasico: it matures 6 years and each year added grape juice cooked 36 hours). Some will find these high prices but I am not of this opinion in view of the slowness of the process and the unique taste of this nectar. Thanks for this very informative visit. PS: the place is hard to find because there is no sign at the entrance. You will recognize the place by its large grey gate and the adjacent fence metal is painted white in places. When you get close, you can see villa san gave, but from a distance, it is very difficult to read.

  • Very informative tour with Francesca. It is worth the stop. I didn't know there was so much to know about balsamic.
  • Great tour and knowledgeable staff. They offer an array of choices all made in house.
  • Big thanks to Davide for the private tour of his operation. Very informative and top notch product (had to buy ALL of it!) If in Modena, this is a must!
  • Informative and interesting place in stunning surroundings. Done as part of a tour but if driving definitely stop in if you can. Lots to learn and taste.
  • Davide is very friendly and passionate about TRADITIONAL balsamic vinegar, which has been his family business for generations. Interesting free tour. If you think you know balsamic vinegar, think again until you're done this tour. Some authentic vinegars available for purchase afterwards, but no pressure at all. All in all a must visit!
