Piazza Grande, Modena

(4.6/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Together with the 12th-century cathedral and soaring tower, Piazza Grande is the heart of Modena. This cobblestone-covered square, one of the oldest in Italy, is a meeting-point for locals. Covered arcades line the length of the square, offering many cafes, bars, and restaurants, and a tourist office. If you're interested in people-watching, this is a prime place to do it, as it seems always to be bustling with locals on nightly walks, or passegiatas. • Any time you go there is always people, much, little, much ... never fails! would you as a destination or as a step, you want to go and have a coffee in the various bars around, both to visit la Ghirlandina remains one of the busiest centres of Modena ... and for good reason. for tourists it is still striking how square especially for architecture of the Cathedral and the central location in the pedestrian area to see it passing close to other places of worship or to visit ... or shopping that no never hurts.

  • It is an important space for the city and for the people of Modena, quiet, pleasant, but as piazza itself seemed to me particularly significant ... it becomes, though, when you consider that there is the beautiful Cathedral and at his side stands the famous Ghirlandina, characteristics that make it particularly attractive at certain times of the day, and capable of giving to the keen eye fascinating views.

  • Among the historic buildings there is the side of the Cathedral with its beautiful gothic and Romanesque forms, doors and the three Romanesque apses. Beside the Ghirlandina. Then there is the medieval town hall, very nice. Thousand listings around make it nice to visit and to live.

  • Heart of Modena, it would be nice to see more initiatives by the Municipal institutions to bring to life this beautiful square
