  • Cathedral Museum of Modena. Contains a generous scattering of ancient artifacts, mostly of religious subjects. It was very educational to touch, in a figurative sense, to the middle ages.

  • Only five thousand visitors annually to this gem are symptom of poor ability to sell the beauty of Italy to the general public. The metopes of the Cathedral kept here aren't just for lovers or connoisseurs, but also for all those who love surprising beauty around us, regardless of taste and preferences. Being under the Ghirlandina should be some good reason for a visit, but people don't. The metopes was saying, enigmatic and monstrous stone figure eight dating back to the 12th century, once the Cathedral's decoration. Taken from medieval bestiaries, well explained by captions on site and well enhanced by a clever use of lights. To see the modest sum of four Euro. Inside the Museum interesting also the ancient scrolls, well appreciated too and the part dedicated to San Geminiano patron of Modena.
