  • must replaced without in 1854 by Francis V of Austria-Este and placed from 1894 to the present location of the Museum building, the Estense Gallery includes four reception rooms and exhibition halls dedicated to the artistic heritage sixteen accumulated by the Dukes d'Este since glorious years of the lordship of Ferrara. Geared toward an aristocrat collectibles by multiple interests, Este collections include extensive picture gallery, which contains a number of paintings from the 14th to 18th centuries, including a group dedicated to painting, sculptures in marble and terracotta; a large nucleus of works of applied art that were part of the sumptuous Ducal wardrobe, as well as several specific collections such as those of the drawings of bronzes, majolica, medals, ivories and musical instruments. Among the most important works include the pity of Cima da Conegliano, Correggio's Madonna and child, the portrait of Francesco I d'Este of Velazquez, the triptych by El Greco, Bernini's marble bust of Francesco I d'Este and the Crucifix of Guido Reni.

  • It's a wonder come in and be able to observe all those paintings adorned with magnificent frames, those beautiful decorated and hand-carved musical instruments. The fourth floor consists of an exhibition of paintings and sculptures, the second from the library with various charts of the time and the ground floor varies based on the view that is represented ... include headphones that give the opportunity to listen to the stories of the time taken from the books of which the exhibition's object. I mean beautiful. We were lucky because it was the first Sunday of the month and get 10 euro ticket was free but there were worth! Highly recommended, go and feast your eyes!

  • Love this Galley! I did not expect to see there so many paintings of the first quality! I The entrance free is 4 Euros. There are no crowds at all, so you can enjoy the paintings so long as you wish.
  • Nice collection with some impressively detailed works by Italian and German artists. The employees were warm-hearted and showed a lot of passion explaining their favourite artworks. There is a reduced price for students and/or young people (2€).
  • Amazing collection. Worth the trip just for this place. Superb Hebrew language collection. Small but amazing!!!
  • Quality, rarity, paintings from the 13th century through the 18th century. Friendly, warmth from the associates. Well worth the 6 Euro fee for those outside the European Union. A very old collection that has aged beyond beauty. Superb. Do not miss the Gallery Estense. Check hours in Italy, they are there for amore not the money. An easy walk on the main road, Via Emilia from the tower in the center of Modena. The entrance is too the left. On viale Vi Veneto.
  • Wonderful gallery in Modena's centre. Showcasing a massive variety of art with outstanding artistic skill, it's just a shame that it doesn't get international media attention. The statue of Francesco I d'Este (pictured) makes the visit worth it, which will be cheap anyways (under 18s have free entry!).
