  • It is a beautiful church dedicated to Saint George, which is located at the end of via Farini coming from piazza Prampolini. The Church was recently restored and reopened the city after it was closed after the earthquake of 1996; the first reopening took place on the occasion of the first edition of photographic exhibitions of European photography, an exhibition which takes place in Reggio Emilia for a couple of months a year starting from may, 2006. The Church originally dates back to 1600 but the dome-not visible from via Farini but from the bottom of via Squadroni, via which is located to the right of the facade-now it is in the middle of 1700. Unfortunately, via Farini is not so large as to allow an overall view of the beautiful façade, characterized by exposed brick with a baroque portal, much to threaten to go unnoticed. My favorite element of the façade is the autorilievo located above the portal and depicting St George on horseback slaying the Dragon with a spear.

  • This is a pretty little brick and marble church that is often overlooked. It is very close to Piazza Roma so stop in to look at the dome and alter.
  • This small chapel is designed in the Baroque style. Is very close to Palazzo Ducale of Modena. Very popular with locals. Also note the beautiful interior.
