Villa Necchi Campiglio, Milan

4.6
#4 of 74 in Museums in Milan
One of Milan's museum houses, Villa Necchi Campiglio offers a glimpse into villa architecture in interwar Italy. Designed by Italian architect Piero Portaluppi, this was created as a single-family home with opulent grounds, rather than a palace or mansion. Over the years, it was home to Milanese elite and European royalty. As you wander from one richly decorated room to another, admire paintings and other artwork from the 18th through the 20th centuries. • Made famous by the movie, it is truly a gem in the middle of the city. The garden is nice, but join the tour inside the building, the guide is very knowledgeable and expressive. In a separate building...  more »
  • I went with the FAI. Guide very prepared to explain the various rooms and family history Necchi. Takes an hour of your visit and when you leave you feel like being in a world unknown to me, seeing the beauty of the place and the rooms full of antique objects and artistic wealth is very beautiful. Advice to the guided tour inside this elegant villa is 30 years even to get an idea of how he lived the high bourgeoisie of the time.

  • I first learned about it through the movie "I Am Love" which starred Tilda Swinton. The details of this house is exquisite. I highly recommend Milan visitors to include this in their itinerary.  more »

  • Great villa with a unique architecture and design, still modern today after more than 85 years since it was built. Amazing attention to details from the designers, great care from the renovators, and excellent, passionate and detailed explanations from the FAI guides makes it a sensational visit.
  • Very beautiful villa with amazing architecture. The obligatory guided tour is a bit to detailed though. It takes up nearly 2 hours.
  • Wonderful 1930's villa surrounded by a cozy garden with a pool. Perfect place to relax, read a book or have a coffee.
  • A hidden gem for tourists in Milan. A super interesting villa with amazing design and garden, right in the center of the city. Must visit!
  • Impressive 1930ies Villa. Nice Garden & Café for a recreation within the city.
