  • The studio is still full of prototypes and the explanation of his creations is very interesting and suggests that the real designer produces objects meant to be used by people, not pieces of furniture meant only for aesthetics but little functional.

  • Displaying objects of study and work of the milanese architect. Prototypes, models that are design history, parts used during lectures by him held at the Politecnico di Milano and Torino.

  • I was lucky enough to visit the home and studio of Achille Castiglioni in Milan's Piazza Castello at 27, with a lively and attentive students of the art school. Being the only old man of the group, I have tried as much as possible to confuse me with tapestry, and to ear who was driving and the reactions of young companions. Who was driving, daughter of both father, has been able to adapt the tone and level of the speech the audience with the same sensitivity and readiness that the father had to invent cutting-edge sessions based on stools for milking cows, or lamps imperishable with FIAT 1100 light (is the first light that I see when I get back in my house), or ashtrays madly Sixties with a steel spring and so on and so forth. Mrs. Carmichael knew how to amuse and entertain children by stimulating their curiosity and inventiveness, making them easy questions, whose answers were difficult difficult, but helped to understand how commonly used they could derive from material objects of great practical value and aesthetic, making full use of the "date" and always creating with a special eye to simplicity and economy. One thing led to headlines such as the book of a great companion to Castiglioni, Bruno Munari. La spezia that conveys flavor to matter is the joy of creating, that Mrs. knew admirably convey. A joy that is transmitted also to objects, and which constitutes its moral identity, to the same extent as though in the opposite direction with which "the pain of things" constitutes the moral identity of Giorgio Morandi's still lifes. And because I am convinced that it takes more courage to face the joy and pain, I say HOORAY CASTIGLIONI!!, without say down with Morandi. I hope and I think the guys my teammates have acknowledged this message, because there does nothing to degrade the ethics to the label.
