  • The statue is located right in the Centre of Piazza Duomo in Milan, is very detailed and beautiful in its appearance. Lends itself to souvenir photos.

  • These days I noticed with pleasure that someone stops intrigued wondering who the character of the statue, although the monument remains the "bivouac" of idlers and tourists-who sometimes exaggerate short by clumping above. Overall though the situation seems to be improving, thanks to the increased presence of law enforcement. Under the proud and frowning to Vittorio Emanuele are followed the meetings of who will meet in this place that you cannot go wrong.

The statue depicts the King on his horse and is rested on a plinth flanked by two bronze lions and route from reliefs representing the franco-Piedmontese troops during input in Milan in 1859. In 1893, when after the mergers of bronze parts, we discussed at length what had been most appropriate to place the statue, though near the Royal Palace or downtown to piazza del Duomo and the choice fell on the latter. Bronze sculpture depicts the King in the Act to curb the enthusiasm of his horse, while at the base lie two lions lying on lateral posing one leg each on a plaque engraved with the name «Roma» and «Milan», in reference to the great achievements of the risorgimento. A curiosity, in 2012, during the study phase for the consolidation of the foundations of the monument, the ground penetrating had revealed the existence of voids under the base of the statue; in practice well 7 underground rooms, so far unknown to everyone and not recorded in any store. These are the "foundational" compartments above which was created the monument
