La Rinascente, Milan

Gift & Specialty Shop Shopping
Just to the left of the Milan Cathedral, La Rinascente has been a favorite of Italian shoppers since 1887. It's the oldest department store in Italy, thriving until the World War I's resulting destruction and poverty and almost drove it out of business. Poet Gabriele d'Annunzio rescued it by rebranding it La Rinascente (the reborn), to symbolize the rebirth of Italy and the store. The name took on literal significance when a short circuit burned the building down on Christmas night 1918, only for it to be rebuilt. Now, you can explore six floors of brand-name fashion topped by a gourmet market and rooftop cafe with views of the cathedral. • In the middle of Milan relaxting lounging on the outdoor terrace. Tasty refreshments. Soaking up the Sun. Within, there is something for everyone. On the same floor they have delicious dining surprises. Worth visiting

  • The location of the bar that offers views of the spires of the Cathedral is beautiful. The drinks are unique and refined products also in the preparation. Elegant and expensive stuff from foreign tourists

  • I had read negative comments about sellers (his) of this store that might be our galleries Lafayette and more small and a little less trendy decoration, but in fact they and they are very friendly in the entire level perfumery, make happy to try absolutely everything what your eyes see and your nose feel! I stayed more than an hour, the staff is really sweet, I bought it is true at AQUA DI PARMA (a happiness!) we can't necessarily find in France, unless one is on Paris... and I went with an incredible sample amount, as never in my life shopping, including auxUSA! GENIAL! In addition you can really but really try everything and some vendors speak even in french and take the time to explain news (cosmetics the sea for example). Go there you won't regret!

  • One of the best places for luxury shopping in the heart of Milan. Here you can find almost all high-end brands under one roof, including tax-free office on the top floor. There are plenty of small cafeteria and restaurants, if you are tired of shopping, as well as a food market. There is a bar on the same floor as the food market, where you can drink a cappuccino for ~5 euro (which is very expensive for Italy), but in return you'll get a perfect view on Duomo and nice photos for Instagram :)
  • Great place to get premium products. Open-air cafe is very hot on the highest floor which can give you a good view of the DOM
  • Bad shopping experience here in Chanel! We were asking the clerk of Chanel about some information, but the lady was really impatient and kept asking us whether to buy things or not. Well, I intended to buy something at Chanel but I decided to go to another shop because the terrible service really made me uncomfortable. Other than Chanel, the clerks of other shops in the department store were nice and really helped us to get things we want. So again I would like to emphasize my disappointment toward the Chanel cosmetic and perfume shop at the ground floor.
  • Great place for lunch. Food great. Nice and cool. Pricey
  • A must visit for every tourist who come to Milan. Huge shop with all the top fashion brands on display and sale. The quality of the display stands is extremely high, it looks like a contemporary art museum, goods quality is obviously over the top. Prices are not displayed and are usually very high, especially on the first floors. Going upstairs, things are still top notch but more accessible.

Where to stay in Milan

For a quintessential Milanese experience, stay in the bustling heart of the old town. This area offers easy foot access to most of Milan's main sites, as well as some of the city's finest restaurants, shops, and theaters. The central area is also quite crowded, and comfortable rooms in good hotels can be very expensive. Visitors traveling on a budget can choose from a range of top-notch B&Bs and family-operated hostels, which offer private parking and access to private outdoor space, minutes from Milan's main attractions.
