Now a huge shopping mall, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni and built between 1865 and 1877. Often called "the living room of Milan" because of its importance as a popular meeting and dining place, this building is topped by a glass dome and features an exquisite mosaic floor. Considered one of the city's main landmarks, the mall is home to some of the region's oldest shops, as well as a number of modern, upscale boutiques, including Louis Vuitton and Prada. Choose from numerous cafes and restaurants that serve a wide range of foods for all budgets. This busy commercial building is also a good place to learn about the city's art and architecture, with several notable galleries spread across the mall's extensive grounds. • What a place..if I only had money. Truely wonderful. Went early around 7 am. When no one else was there ,took awesome photos. A delightful experience.
  • Beautiful and amazing architecture. I would say most people don't need more than 30 minutes here to take pictures and appreciate the architecture. Most of the stores are the typical brand names (LV, Prada, Gucci, etc.). They even have a Gucci Cafe! Unless you're going to ball out on the brand name goods or eat at a meal here, you can make your way to the Duomo which is right outside.
  • if you come with your wife be sure that your wallet is full :), there you can find the famous Italian designers of Gucci, Stefanel, Tod,Pucci, Filpucci, I liked the historical construction method, as I know that the building is up to 200 years ago
  • Beautiful architecture. Take it easy! Have a glass of wine (or two) at a place that pleases you and enjoy the Italian 'dolce far niente'.
  • The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II(Italian: [ɡalleˈriːa vitˈtɔːrjo emanuˈɛːle seˈkondo]) is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story doublearcade in central Milan,[1] the Galleria is named after Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.
  • It was a amazing sight!!! The top was Gothic and the bottom modern. Be ready to spend money if you are willing to shop here.
