  • It is very beautiful, but presently ravaged by construction. The square, the arcades and the fountain have become the refuge of many homeless people. Amazing, but we are in Milan

  • San Babila square has a cheerful and lively although located in a context not some fantastic architecturally, with the exception of the basilica and the Tower Snia. In the square is the fountain, created in 1997 by renowned architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni who plays symbolically the cycle of abundant river water in Lombardy and the complex morphology of the territory that accepts them. The truncated pyramid is topped by an ovoid cloud, then formed the Lakes through the large Gush ultimately to flower beds with artificial reliefs. The fountain measures about 370 sqm and it works in continuous circulation. Very impressive in the wee hours of the morning and at sunset.

  • The first impact was not exciting. Beautiful Fountain, cetrto, but somewhat at odds with the style of a square that has lived for centuries around some historic buildings. But then the eye began to get used to, the novelty began to integrate into the existing landscape, the perception of something he could complete the square began to make headway. Now the fountain in piazza San Babila is right in the heart of the Milanese entry, partly because he assumed the function of "normalizing" of that area. Obviously a street furniture of this type prevents crowding and the bivouac by too many people, increases visibility on the square, landscaping but also helps control of an area that in the past has had periods of medium-high hazard and which today is a focal point for walks of Milanese and tourists.
