  • Yesterday I visited for the first time, despite being in Milan, the crypt of St. John with a friend, having had to hand a brochure of the Touring Club, which takes care with his volunteers opening. The crypt, restored, is a treasure chest, the billboards exposed talking tell the story, a neat video talks with other sites of Roman imperial and Milan. The restoration was accurate, but worth a visit, while being immersed in city traffic

  • Adjacent to Piazza MIssori, in the intermediate area of the walkway in Via Albricci, lie the remains of the apse (few) of the ancient Christian Basilica of St. John. The basilica had rather more and the front was located almost at the height of the equestrian statue on the other side of the square. Interesting history, which for various reasons led to periods of ' Glory ', but also under a subsequent abandonment and final decommissioning, after the second world war. The most interesting thing that remains is the crypt, which you can freely visit down the few steps of a staircase behind the remains of the apse. The crypt is guarded by volunteers (I was greeted by two ladies), who are only too happy to be your guide. The crypt is characterized by many stone columns (in different colors), topped by beautiful capitals, one different from the next. On times, unfortunately, do not intrvedono frescoes, probably ruined by time and neglect of the eras in which the building (Deconsecrated) was used as a warehouse, Anyway watching is interesting. The sides some ancient sculpture and panels that aptly illustrates the soria of the place and the Basilica (interesting to see the depiction of how it was originally). The tour requires little more than ten minutes: the BOARD IF YOU'RE NEARBY!

  • It's nice to see, as in ruins between modern buildings. You can free within but not that much about of the crypt itself, there are therefore especially pictures. Great if you're in the neighborhood I'm only there would be no detour.

  • Nice little historical structure. Good for a photo portrait, not far out of the way from nearby landmarks.
  • Definitely worth a trip the cript! Full of history. Tricky opening hours. Make appointment ahead.
  • To see the old aqueduct and the remains of the old basilica above the underground crypt. There is the Touring educational material that allows the visitor to proceed in chronological order to discover the location addressed by the Church over the years. To visit, even if it is not highly publicized.

  • Interesting. The place itself one visits in 2 minutes, but there is much material available to learn more about the history (posters with pictures and a video)
