  • Being in the industry i was a little privileged in that i had a personal tour through the history of Fernet Branca. Its a beautiful museum to one of the oldest single family distilleries in the world ...  more »
  • A visit outside gives them common in Milan is a factory of Fernet Branca, the first. Easy to reach, by bus, taxi or subway. Has 2 hours by day, to the 10 Am and to the 15 PM, but always before there is that book. The visit is in Italian, but the Argentines have a madareth barbara and not for less! In this factory will produce 8 million litres per year for Italy and the international market and in the only other manufactures have that in Argentina will produce 50 MILLION! And just for the Argentina! For them, we are gods. The visit to the Museum is easy, ends up in a bar with a wine tasting. Then they took us to the factory, where the whiff of Fernet is a constant. Not to be missed for an Argentine.

  • Strolling in viale Jenner after a few hundred meters from piazzale Maciachini we note a particular building as large as an entire city block, between two carriages of the milanese (viale Jenner, memo and viale Lancetti, Bovisa), wearing all the signs of aging. Yet the architectures are not trivial, indeed, the building has an elegant turn of the century, the classic one of lombardi, efficient factories and even beautiful to look at. Looking at it you can see on one side an inscription: Fernet Branca. That's her, the seat of Fernet is famous all over the world? Well Yes! The settlement Branch in via Resegone 2 in Milan from 1910 (but the story of this family business begins earlier, ben 170 years ago), although you seem abandoned, is still alive and well and here each year come out 20/22 million bottles of the famous FERNET which are exported all over the world. But Branca is very strong even in South America, where it has a large plant in Buenos Aires, capable of churning out 40 million bottles of Fernet Branca (in Argentina Fernandito, cocktail mix of Cola literally depopulated, Fernet Branca and ice). And the great thing is that the establishment of Milan is also open to visitors (not all 23,000 square meters, we mean, but only a part). The collection branch has decided to open the doors of the House to the public and for a few years now there is the opportunity to take part in interesting guided tours. The factory industry and everything that revolves around (Fernet, Brancamenta, Caffè Borghetti, Brandy stravecchio e compagnia bella) is inevitably the Branca family history that, now as then, keeps the reins of the company. Today we are the 5th generation. And, to stay on the subject, in the Museum there is no trace of multimedia that today is so fashionable: here it is like home. To do by Cicero in casa Branca is Marco Ponzano, curator of the collection and former advertising executive and head of communications for the branch. If the branch are the 5th generation, Ponzano is the 4°, then the establishment knows very much, so he's almost family. Very nice person (milanese doc and well ..... ID, which is good), really passionate about his work, let's start with him. Stands for the 55 meter high colored smokestack, on the occasion of its 170-year history, the company has also its own employees in colored Branch initiative, with an experience of collaborative painting. Thus, with the technique of dusting, the chimney came to life and colour, highlighting the 27 herbs that have popularized the liqueur in the world, tangled among historic bottles iconic symbols, including the famous Eagle flying over the world. Bringing back the nose and gaze downwards, the guided tour of the Museum began with the tale of family history Branch. The story of Branca and their spirits continues so engrossing and Mr Marcus tells anecdotes, specialties, secrets (no, it's not true ... can but won't!) and much more, as you walk down the corridors of the Museum, filled with memorabilia of all kinds. There are 27 spices used for Fernet, reconstruction of an Office at the time, of tailoring where employees ' uniforms were prepared (including 900 in the golden age), the Carpenter and the maintenance of the barrels you pass to visit the Hogshead Mother: made with oak casks, has a capacity of approximately 84,000 liters, really impressive. Mark tells us that is the Europe's largest cask. The Hall of "Hogshead mother", via a steep spiral staircase, let us go down into the cellars: never, ever would have thought that in the basement of Milan you can find hundreds (800 to be exact) of barrels and vats made of wood and with a capacity of 20,000 litres, where brandy, grappa and Fernet lie waiting to be marketed. I don't want to reveal too much, the guided tour lasts about two hours and ends in the cellar, where you will be greeted by an intoxicating fragrance in warehouse storage of spices. Half visit also a tasting of Fernet or more and a nice gift. I can assure you that it is definitely one of those visits essential: the last true factory in town.

  • A really unique in its kind, a great way to learn about the history of the family and Branch of its flagship product, the Fernet. A free and comprehensive tour of the factory that opens a new world, being able to look at all the various stages of production and taste the finished product, highly recommended to all! An evergreen Italian excellence
