Where to stay in Milan

For a quintessential Milanese experience, stay in the bustling heart of the old town. This area offers easy foot access to most of Milan's main sites, as well as some of the city's finest restaurants, shops, and theaters. The central area is also quite crowded, and comfortable rooms in good hotels can be very expensive. Visitors traveling on a budget can choose from a range of top-notch B&Bs and family-operated hostels, which offer private parking and access to private outdoor space, minutes from Milan's main attractions.

  • My husband and I have participated in the initiative "open courtyards" on Sunday, May 21, 2017, whose visits were handled by the Association Hidden City Milan. I don't know really who is due, but I found the visit rushed, a bit generic compared to shared information, which were limited almost exclusively to the anecdotal. The visit started off with more than 10 minutes late, and this has obviously impacted on the course, as our guide had another visit soon after. We could devote to each courtyard between 30 seconds and a minute at most, in one case we got because of the long wait (and participate in a guided tour did not guarantee no lane "preferential"). The Guide has proven to be a courteous and pleasant, but nothing more. Finally, let me mention the price: 25 euros each for the 90-minute tour, really too many in my opinion. There I will adhere more to the initiative over the next few years. Positive note, small concerts of Arias in the courtyard of palazzo Borromeo d'Adda, really nice!

  • Excellent organization, but especially, in our case, delicious Cicero: prepared, sympathetic and approachable. If you fancy a tour followed CNM also on Fb. For people like me working Saturdays and Sundays, they also organize tours during the week and in the evenings. At last!

  • Born in the second half of the 19th century and located in one of the most scenic areas of Milan, il Circolo Filologico Milanese is housed in an ancient, beautiful building and that it would recommend a visit to the lovers of the city. If that wasn't enough, the institution offers its members a wide and interesting cultural program, which ranges from Milan in the world and encompasses every aspect of human knowledge. In short: a place to see and attend!
