  • Beautiful little church, ancient in its original building, and rebuilt several times in history. Stood out in the small piazza Borromeo, in the city center. In front of small gardens covering a modern and spacious underground parking

  • Its ancient origins (sec. IX) there are ruins and even less talks about his 17th appearance, enhanced by some testimony of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. He speaks primarily of Borromeo, the reconstruction ordered by cardinal Federigo in 1626, you want to be placed in the square and in front of the palaces "of the family," would you like to finally for the statue of Saint Charles, side-mounted plastic copper work Dionigi Bussola (1613-1687) which originally was in the today's piazza Cordusio, where now there is the monument to Giuseppe Parini and that was done move for obstruction to the carriages. Ubiquitous, for whom he had forgotten, the motto "Humilitas": at the foot of the statue, on the buildings and in the center of the upper gable of the Church. Other descriptive notes in my previous review.

  • In 1400 it was restored in the Gothic style from the Borromeo family, who built the great family Chapel, now dedicated to the Holy family. It was later modified in Baroque style in 1600. The façade, with four beautiful columns of 1628. There is the motto of the Borromeo family: Humilitas. In the Interior, with three naves, there are beautiful frescoes of the fifteenth century, recently rediscovered. The Interior is buried the famous astronomer and mathematician Roger Boscovich, who was one of the first collaboraboti of the Observatory of Brera. Outside stands the statue of Saint Charles Borromeo. In 2012 the milanese Curia gave the Church to the Greek Orthodox community and in 2013, during his visit to Milan, the Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, has been praying in this church at the side of Cardinal Scola
