  • Rebuilt in the middle of the Church of Santa Maria alla Porta is sixteen hundred in the classic Baroque style prevalent in that era; bombed during WWII and rebuilt has the most interesting in the exterior façade and, in particular, in large portal and in your eardrum, Borromini's work. Internally a number of side chapels richly (perhaps excessively) decorated with statues; noteworthy is the large frescoed dome that houses four statues of angels in the four niches. Maybe we wouldn't have noticed its existence if we hadn't previously visited the nearby church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore. It may be useful for a short visit but no more.

  • The Church, which now houses the city's Polish community, brings on himself the signs of the bombings of 1943 which destroyed an entire chapel on the right of the altar. Coming from vicolo Santa Maria alla Porta you can admire the beautiful restoration of the painting survived the bombing and get an idea even of the floor that is covered by some slabs until you will find the funds to restore it and bring it back to light ... hopefully soon!

  • The Church has ancient origins, definitely before the sec. XII, but the present building was built in the 1652/1670-designed by Francesco Maria Richini, then on his death continued by Francesco Castelli-following the discovery of the old chapel containing the image of the "Madonna of the Pinafore", today visible in the interesting region, well restored, located on the right side of the Church. The rich Baroque façade of the church you can see the Castle Portal surmounted by the coronation of the Virgin, quite a relief carved in 1670 by Carlo Simonetta. The Interior contains numerous sculptures, Simonetta and other authors (Cristoforo Solari, Stephen John Dory), as well as 17th century paintings of Camillo and Ercole Procaccini. Today the Church is Catholic Chaplaincy of Polish language.

  • The parish of Poles. Very well working on behalf of the community. Was the sisters and the priest. I highly recommend the Poles przyjezdzajacym to explore the city!
