LA CERTOSA DI GAREGNANO Mia Moglie ed Io , essendoci recati in viale Certosa per una consulenza su un bonsai che possediamo, abbiamo avuto la possibilità di fare una breve passeggiata nei dintorni. Co... read more »The CERTOSA DI GAREGNANO my wife and I, having travelled to viale Certosa for advice on a bonsai tree that we own, we had a chance to take a short walk around. So we discovered this remarkable Certosa of which, frankly, until now we were unaware of its existence. We were so interested in reading some things about it and discovering that dates back to 1349 it was founded by the then Bishop d Milan and Giovanni Visconti Lord of the city. It is now referred to as the Certosa di Garegnano because, despite being currently under citizen, then was located in the ancient village of Garegnano which stood at over 4 km from the city walls of Milan. Born then as Hermitage for Carthusian monks, has undergone lots of changes gradually with insertion of Renaissance buildin-Baroque statues, friezes, flames and obelisks. Octagonal ceiling in the apse, a triumph of frescoes. The body of the Church nave has a barrel vault with different fillers and, on the walls, frescoes galore. Also a remarkable fresco depicting Saint Michael. Outside the Church called Santa Maria Assunta in Certosa, left one enters the cloister and on the right in the old Hermitage, which still exists with minimal furniture; both spaces complement the ability of meditation and prayer. Clean the exterior decorated by statues in front, according to the dictates of san Carlos; polychrome Interior and excellent acoustics (the Church often hosts concerts fine). For me it has an added value: in 1400 departed from this fall mother the carthusians who founded a religious community of my hometown, Paina. Visit consiglitissima!show original
