  • Palazzo Castiglioni is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of the architect Giuseppe Sommaruga, who realized it between 1900 and 1904, i.e. during the period of the first Liberty, the most authentic and original. By going ahead, though, the more I look at it the more convinced I am that the removal of two female nudes on either side of the portal-symbolizing peace and industry-not only was a obvious as despicable art building, but depletion radically altered the whole decorative plant and the overall harmony. Comparing the cold portal and its dull floral decorations with the rest of the façade observe indeed than they appear sad, insignificant and even little tune, especially compared to the joyful cherubs adorning the second row of Windows and were in perfect harmony with the two figures muliebri. I don't know how the thing is doable, but it would be wonderful replace original place the two sculptures of Ernesto Bazzaro, today housed at the better side of nursing Columbus (formerly Villa Faccanoni-Romeo), and bring consistency to the beautiful Palazzo Castiglioni as sources.

  • The first example of Art-Nouveau building, the building was designed in 1903 by Sommaruga, with special decorations, Floral style.

  • We returned after some time to review this gem of liberty; in our previous visit Peacock room had not been possible to visit it as busy for a meeting. This is the first building in liberty city and curiously properly or maybe for provocation, lies right in the middle of corso Venezia, that was the way of nobility in the eighteenth century whose buildings already had the simple lines of neoclassicism; at the time of its construction the effect was undoubtedly disruptive, for more than one reason, because of its monumental proportions with the severe facade that drew partly Michelangelo influences in the use of Ashlar and the profusion of cherubs in high relief. In this building every material helps to give a sense of movement and a general feeling of power, na is inside and in my opinion achieves apotheosis, the gate to the stair railing characterized by the interweaving of wrought irons until arriving at its splendid rooms where on all triumphs that known as "peacocks". Not to be missed!

  • Beautiful building, visited during the first edition of Openhouse. The exterior façade, beautiful but hardly does justice to the immense staircase and stained glass ceiling of the Interior.
