  • Very close to the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio we stumbled upon this unique building built between 1910 and 1915 according to the project of architect Adolfo Coppedè. Neo-medieval style, following the prevailing fashion at the beginning of century, it is built in brick and decorated with white stone. It consists of five floors, the last of which is decorated with Merlons, and topped by a tower, also battlements, modeled on medieval castles. As a curiosity, it served as inspiration for the architects of the Velasca Tower, located in the District of Bottonuto. The building is privately owned, so we can only see it from the outside.

  • In this reinterpretation of medieval castle the whimsical Adolfo Coppedè has poured more than a century ago much of his exuberant style and quirky, which in this case is expressed through compositions of great imagination and accuracy combined with a amazing decorative richness. Perhaps someone may seem redundant and excessive, but certainly not without originality and, paradoxically, a robust coherence. If you are in the area worth a visit together with the nearby palazzo Gonzaga of Vescovado (see review), in addition to the magnificent Basilica of Saint Ambrose.
