Brera District, Milan

(4.4/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
In historic Milan, Brera District is an epicenter of art, culture, and romantic dining. Both the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and the Brera Art Gallery attract artists and students, giving the district a Bohemian feel. An astronomy observatory is in the same building as the academy and gallery. Go behind it to visit Milan's botanical garden. Stroll the streets and roam shops selling antiques and art, booths sheltering fortune tellers, and a street market peddling ingredients for Italian cooking. • In the years 50 and 60 was a hotbed of artists, actors, poets, now it's always alive but full of restaurants and shops, all sold to tourists.

  • The appearance can vary a lot depending on the time in which it is observed. Pure speed in the morning, when the center of it all are the banks which more or less they all have splendid palaces of representation in these parts. A bit of tranquility "differentiated" at lunchtime, when yuppies (a term inherited from the years ' 80 and some disused) they swallow four millstones sandwiches while those who can afford human time can choose from a few bars of the highest standard. Then there is the world of the Art Academy, where she is a swarm of young talented and motivated that reconciles with the world. The most exciting time of Brera is perhaps that of the sunset when the rite of the aperitif. In the recent past the flow of pedestrians increased still enjoyed the evening between dinner and after dinner, but now this district was eclipsed by other areas. Brera remains a symbol of historic and architecturally significant Milan, a place where a walk leads you to discover the hidden jewels of art and urban planning.

  • It's like a country, full of quaint shops, bars, restaurants, inns, streets full of life! While coming from Rome, I was very impressed. Unexpected and beautiful. It's the most beautiful place in all of Milan.
