  • I recently had the pleasure of visiting the historical site of Corriere della Sera, on Via Solferino 28, commissioned by the property and the direction of the newspaper, who entrusted the implementation to the great Luca Beltrami flanked by Luigi Repossi, who built a large building of sober elegance just enriched with some decoration. The taste also sumptuous Beltrami for the ornate spiral staircase you see in from the ground floor leads to the upper floor, flanked by pictures of everyone, but everyone, the characters who counted something in Italian culture for at least five decades. Welcome the visitor the bronze bust of Tan Violler, the first Director of the daily newspaper published in 1876, in times of lent, on a day when other newspapers were not on newsstands, and the printing presses, linotype then cutting-edge. The main and most exciting stage of the visit in the company of friends of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, is a long layover in the large room called "Sala Albertini" from the legendary Editorial Director of the courier. Here a Lady of great communication skills, flanked by former Deputy Director Gian Giacomo Slaves, l gives an account visitors seated around the large table it is exemplified on the Times in the history of the newspaper, and evokes what had to be the atmosphere of the glorious times of Via Solferino. Like, around this table that would have pleased Thomas Mann and Luchino Visconti, forgetting for a while at least the known events, not always glorious, not always clear, involving the courier until recently, and let go the evocation of "discreet charm of the bourgeoisie" that Hall and his story evoke. I was sitting next to the place occupied by Dino Buzzati, renowned editor and writer with few equals, that precisely at the table began to write the DESERT of the TARTARS, apparently inspired by the monotonous time passing at night writing. Singular: the table was Italy's first newspaper editorial on the news that the novel infinitely delayed news, never comes, and as such embodies the sense of an entire life.

  • Maybe a visit to this site may be of interest to the Italians or tourists are particularly interested in newspaper cases, but for a simple traveller this in common-that House as a home, nothing special.

  • The building was built in the early twentieth century to accommodate the wording of one of the most popular and not hardly the oldest Italian Milanese newspaper Corriere della Sera. For more than a hundred years the Milan Edition of "evening courier" is located in this building.
