Where to stay in Milan

For a quintessential Milanese experience, stay in the bustling heart of the old town. This area offers easy foot access to most of Milan's main sites, as well as some of the city's finest restaurants, shops, and theaters. The central area is also quite crowded, and comfortable rooms in good hotels can be very expensive. Visitors traveling on a budget can choose from a range of top-notch B&Bs and family-operated hostels, which offer private parking and access to private outdoor space, minutes from Milan's main attractions.

  • Unexpected as magnificent. For those who love liberty this Palace is worth visiting. I appreciate everything from mosaics in the entrance, winged allaVittoria, the railings ... and everything else!!

  • Via Cappuccini, where once stood the Capuchin also spoke of Alessandro Manzoni in Promessi Sposi. in the heart of the so-called quadrilateral of silence ... This is a symbol of the late Gothic Palace in Milan. a mix of styles, from Austrian Gothic gargoyles to coloured tiles with Bay Windows of Queen Victoria to Wildt in town hall. There is so much to see that it is not possible to describe it all. If you follow the Palace, holding it on the right, arrived at the end of the road turn right and you will find another palazzo Berri Meregalli, less impressive but equally nice, with frescoed nudes rather strong.

  • I state that in Via Cappuccini 8 there is Palazzo Berri Meregalli-and not-as stated-the eponymous House, which is located in Via Mozart 21 and has completely different appearance and size. Pointing this out is not only a place, but a precise Foundation. If it is true that both buildings are by the same architect Giulio Ulisse Arata-, which built them respectively in the years 1911/13 and 1910/12-it is also clear that while at the House of Via Mozart eclectic style is measured and retains a connotation liberty, monumental and surprising Palace in Via Cappuccini it manifests itself in more extreme and original shape through various elements and heterogeneous among them in historical references such as materials used, where liberty becomes a detail and finds full expression especially in mosaics and in the entrance hall, where the winged victory of the sculptor Adolfo Wildt. The grates and other wrought iron finishes are of the "specialist" Alessandro Mazzucotelli on drawing the same Arata. The two buildings are within walking distance from each other and are definitely worth a careful visit, like the other palaces, liberty and not, in nearby streets.

  • Very interesting building, a bit out from the main touristic attractions in town, but the mixture of styles that this house has, makes it very peculiar.
  • One of the most beautiful examples of late Art Nouveau. Built as a medieval, is enriched with masks, branches and flowers. L entrance hall of entrance is striking for its neo-medieval narrative structure. At the bottom of a sculpted head of Wildt. A treat is watching letter N and nr 8 (street number) that you put in a wonderful era.
