  • The Palace-built in the last decades of the eighteenth century by Giuseppe Piermarini (inspired by the model of Luigi Vanvitelli Royal Palace of Caserta) for Prince Alberico XII di belgiojoso d'Este, important collector of books and works of art, making this House a salon frequented by famous artists and writers of the time--is privately owned, so is usually not accessible; but there are times when it becomes, at least partially: eg. national days ADSI – open courtyards. There is a lot of crowds, but it pays to take advantage of it and elbowing a while to enter the inner courtyard and admire the remains of the garden (which once ranged up on via Bigli). Walked in the door, you open a porticoed courtyard with arches on columns of granite; above the arches are Windows, embellished with decorations with wreaths, eagles, Palm trees and festoons. From the header right of porch leads to the grand staircase (I only glimpsed!) leading to the main floor, partially used today in offices, where are the richly decorated (so say the lucky ones who were able to access it! And a little envy) by Giacomo Albertolli Golden stucco and frescoes by Martin Knoller. In the bottom of the main courtyard, enclosed by a fence, a small garden; on the walls of the portico that precedes the coats of arms of stone that are meaningful to the family Belgioioso, historically, closely linked to the Visconti. Another coat of arms adorns the floor in front of the gatehouse; is a beautiful mosaic depicting the Sun radiated inside an oval labeled LIB. IT. NBA EXT. After complicated searches, I was able to discover its meaning and history. Liberated Italy Italy Exteris — Freed the Ab by foreigners, is the motto that was written on the big white banner crossed by a red cross delivered by Pope Urban VI to Alberico (IV) Barbian, who, with his company of St. George, had defeated at the battle of Marino (1379) Breton and Gascon militias in the pay of the Antipope Clement VII; and that is one of the mottos of the family. Motto which is certainly inspired by that Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso that participated actively in the Risorgimento to rid Milan from other foreigners, the Austrians. Those who don't want to wait the days ASDI (in 2017 were in May) or fails to take advantage of it, will have to settle for admiring the rich neo-classical façade of the Palace, with 25 Windows and 3 gates, tall columns standing on a plinth in Ashlar, a central triangular pediment. Beautiful and impressive: it is certainly not a coincidence that this Palace is considered--along with the Teatro alla Scala-one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Milan,

  • It is a small rectangular square. To the South of Manzoni's House. Nothing square, and was very helpful.

  • beautiful monumental building Palazzo Belgioioso built late 18th century significantly stands out from other houses. Located not far from La Scala, so it is easy to find it. Go, I hope that you will be impressed by it.

  • Strolling through the old part of Milan, there are many mansions, one more beautiful than the other, between squares and old streets in porphyry.

Where to stay in Milan

For a quintessential Milanese experience, stay in the bustling heart of the old town. This area offers easy foot access to most of Milan's main sites, as well as some of the city's finest restaurants, shops, and theaters. The central area is also quite crowded, and comfortable rooms in good hotels can be very expensive. Visitors traveling on a budget can choose from a range of top-notch B&Bs and family-operated hostels, which offer private parking and access to private outdoor space, minutes from Milan's main attractions.
