Get a sense of the city when it was the capital of the Western Roman Empire by stepping inside Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore, the oldest church in Milan, dating back to the 4th century. Visit the Chapel of St. Aquilinus to view ancient Byzantine mosaics. Find the sarcophagus in the chapel said to hold the body of Galla Placidia, daughter of the Roman Emperor Theodosius I. Follow the stairs behind the altar to see pieces of the original foundation, built with materials taken from an old Roman amphitheater. • This stunning church at the center of the city is well worth the stop. Inside, some amazing 14th and 15th century paintings, an amazing architecture and absolutely wonderful altarpiece. This Basilica is certainly worth a visit, as is the Diocesan Museum attached and behind the church. Lots of interesting art -- both modern and old.

  • A place where one can escape the city life and enjoy the historical place with seating area. Office people enjoy their sandwich while relaxing the green environment.
  • Impressive basilica with remarkable figurines. Square in front of the cathedral seems a popular place to hang out.
  • Come here, have a good time out of the crowded streets and relax
