  • This unopposing facade holds a treasure! We stayed a block from this church and passed it daily. We finally noticed the doors open and went in. Amazing! We spent time just wandering around and the man...  more »
  • Strongly supported by Bishop Ambrose for the relics of the Apostles Lombardi and 380 built symbolically on his way to Rome in the area of orchards "brolo" on the ruins of an early Christian Cemetery. Subsequently the great leader Trivulzio who lived not far away but found fame and fortune in the pay of the King of France wanted to build his mausoleum and also his family in front of the main entrance. But don't forget to gardarla the back wide Righini near Ca Granda: the best B side of all basilicas in Milan!

  • It is the ancient Basilica Apostolorum, one of the three churches built by San Ambrogio outside the walls. Dating back to the 4th century. Destroyed and rebuilt, now it is quite austere.

  • Beautiful, quite historic church. Much less crowded than the duomo, but possibly richer in history. This is on the Milan Historic Society's self-guided walking tour. Be aware: opening hours are not extensive.
  • It is worth the wait in the long lines for ticket and then to get into or rather around the Cathedral to the roof. A beautiful view of Milano. It is a must if you are in Milano for a few days.
  • Great little place away from most tourist activities.
  • Precious church that was founded by Ambrose and still preserves Paleochristian (the dome plus some inscriptions), Romanic (the main body) and Renaissance (the so-called Cappella Trivulzio at the entrance) construction phases. From the right arm, entrance to some Roman kilns. In the same arm, tomb of a doctor at the Roman imperial court with inscribed epigrams in Greek and Latin.
  • This amazing ancient church was built by St.¬†Ambrose, starting from 382. It was originally dedicated to the Apostles, and thus known as Basilica Apostolorum.
