  • The site was a bit remote and a challenge to find. When we visited it there was no admission fee or control. We were the only visitors when we went there, so it was very pleasant and allowed for some ...  more »
  • Ancient Greek temple dedicated to Hera place a short distance from Metaponto. The attraction is open for free and easily accessible. Not to be confused with the archaeological area which is located a couple of kilometers away and closer to the archaeological museum. The attraction is fairly well maintained and there are a couple of explanatory signs. Shame about the antiquarium which is at the entrance which is closed and has an image of desolation.

  • Maybe it's a place less blasdonato than other sites of ancient Greece, but in my opinion it is elitist place for his character more duiscreto and researched. The site is beautiful etrasmette a sense of sophistication that comes from another era and we invest in our present. Not to be underestimated is the fact that multiple columns can be "closer", unlike many other places, and you can walk amidst what remains of the temple just as the Greeks of Italian colonies. We were lucky enough to crawl, the FAI spring weather location, taking as a guide the school children who, with their freshness and their entusiamso, gave added value to the viista.

  • Worth a stop to look at the ruins and take some pics. Free parking and entry.
  • I was so lucky to assist at a theater performance where the temple was the scene under many stars in a clear sky. Also deities appreciated.
  • It was warm and sunny day in late October, but the sandwich, at the break of journey to Matera, eaten sitting on the Minesweeper, was the best lunch the past few years. Place not to be missed.

  • Burns the contrast between the rich history of the site and its utter abandonment. The hosting facility is closed and unused. Therefore no help or support to the tourist. Open and free entrance.
