  • Pending the opening of a new museum that will have appropriate spaces, the current Museum is a wonderful experience for art lovers. I personally think one of the most fascinating Antonello da Messina Renaissance painters but not properly valued and therefore unknown to most people. I couldn't miss the special exhibition in the Museum of Trivulzio portrait. A terrific experience. The Museum contains some very interesting works by Antonello stably, as the altarpiece with "enthroned Madonna and child, St. Gregory, St. Benedict and the Annunciation," the devotional Tablet and Christ at the column of school Antonelliana. But the Museum is enhanced by the presence of two paintings of Caravaggio. Indescribable emotion to be confronted with such artistic cultivation Wonderland. I highly recommend a visit to the Museum. Also the staff was shown to be courteous and properly prepared.

Because of the terrifying and terrible great earthquake of 1908, more than 80 thousand dead, the remnants of what was, was transferred in the former silk mill Mellinghoff, where it is currently located. Over the years changes have been effettualte, but needs quite other attentions by the city authorities, regional and national.

  • 5 star hotel of encouragement for a museum that might offer a good cultural experience, with great names of painting as Antonello da Messina and Caravaggio, and that could tell the story of the lost city, with a rich collection of artifacts, statues and architectural relics of Messina was destroyed by an earthquake in 1908 and remains stuck between an old 19th century spinning mill and a modern Museum closed for 20 years.
