  • Not impressed, I would say jarring planted alongside the beautiful clock tower and the duomo. In the State that I saw her, not flowed water, which I thought was kinda sad. Also, in some places, the inferrata that surrounds it is rusted. Were it not located at that point, in the middle of a very populated square, I don't think it would be worth a visit.

  • This beautiful fountain is right in front of the Cathedral. Very nice indeed has a pyramid structure, with high Orion and Sirius the dog at his feet. Today known as Neptune's fountain

  • The 16th-century fountain, which binds The design of architect Francesco Cameola in 1530, an aqueduct maiden that she channelled the waters of the Camaro. The fountain of Orion was completed in 1553 by Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli (1507-1563), a disciple of Michelangelo, who designed the sculptural meeting demand to highlight the remote origins of the city, attributed to the legendary hunter Orion, place at the top of the fountain. Twelve-sided plan with more structured superimposed tanks, according to a Renaissance type, by adopting a complex array figurative alleging classical mythology which was modulated at celebratory purposes of the monument, the fountain in 1612 was shut up with iron gates, leaving the outdoor pools to draw water. In 1855 he was a cancelled that closed the entire twelve-sided large tub, backed by a series of caryatids and atlantes half figure, while the four sides falling are lying statues representing the rivers Tiber, Nile, Ebro and Camaro, pouring water in the pools below jugs flipped.

  • Messina's monumental fountain created by FRA Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli (1507-1563) disciple of Michelangelo, dating back to 1553 and performed in collaboration with Domenico Vanello, is located in piazza Duomo. "The most beautiful Fountain of the 16th century European" was defined by the art historian Bernard Berenson, and in fact that is a work of uncommon beauty, of great significance and of strong emotional impact. Was commissioned by the Senate of Messina in 1547 celebratory purposes, with the idea of setting in memory the first city aqueduct that took advantage of channelling the waters of the torrents Camaroe Bangura, started in 1530 and completed in 1547 by the architect Taormina Francis Cameola.
