Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Trentino-Alto Adige / Province of South Tyrol / Merano / I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff
Begun about 1850, I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff contains about 80 different gardens of local and exotic plants, which are organized by region of origin. You can explore areas populated by coniferous and deciduous trees from the Americas, sun gardens of cultivated plants typical in the Mediterranean, terraced gardens designed in the formal English manner, and huge sections covered by flowering oleanders and ancient olive trees. The site also contains an aviary, a Japanese alluvial forest, rice terraces, and a tea plantation. The gardens not only shelter colorful plants from around the globe, but also offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the popular spa resort town of Merano. Daily guided tours are available, with no pre-booking required. Check online for opening hours and all upcoming special events and activities. Beautiful botanical garden with also a beautiful castle. Beautiful flowers with amazing flowers and colourful. Big flipper made of wood. I reccomend this place to visit!!! There is also a restaurant in case you want to refresh. And you a few hours to see it all
The museum is decent. The gardens are quite interesting. If you live in countryside, don't bother to visit, it's not worth the price. If you're from a big city, it's a breath of fresh air so I suggest you to visit it.
Amazing gardens, extremely well done. We spent about 4 hours there (including a lovely coffee break by the lake) and enjoyed every minute. Highly recommended to do!
This is such a wonderful place to visit 💞 a lot of gardens with million varieties of plants. The concerts in the evening are also really cozy. I advise 👍🏻
Beautiful plants and flowers from all over the world. Some fun things for kids including wading pool, little labyrinth, adventure bridge. Many places are not wheelchair or stroller accessible, including the picnic area (we went anyway because we had to eat and they didn't tell us when we entered; it's up a steep ramp).
