  • It takes a vehicle to do go across the ravine, but for a few months, it is also possible to visit many churches rupesti and caves, passing a bridge over stream flowing under the city of the Sassi. A real adventure that involves a lot of physical effort, the need to bring water and food (biscuits or rolls etc.), as well as candy in summer for risk of pressure surge in the Sun. Recommended for those who love exploring and adventure!

  • Settled from the 7th to the 13th century in natural caves or excavated in the Tuff. Among the Rock-Hewn Churches, Santa Maria della Colomba called la Palomba, s. Maria of the three doors, s. Maria della Valle said the Money of 1300. Leaving the city we reach the Church of s. Pietro in Principibus and Belvedere Helm from which you can admire the whole Matera, the stones, the Cathedral and in the background the Castle Tramontano.
