  • We stumbled across this while walking around Matera. An amazing architectural accomplishment and astounding to think it was only rediscovered in 1991. The guide was wonderful.  more »

  • On the surface are only barred doors, we did not know what to expect. Huge underground cisterns are great work of our ancestors. Very cheap price - just € 3. The guided tour takes about 20 minutes and is definitely worth it. If you go to Matera, be sure to visit.
  • Interesting but dhort visit. Only during week ends and at fixed hours.
  • Interesting structure but not much to see at the end
  • Interesting and worth the tour to listen to the history. Not a great deal to see.
