  • One of the first "cave houses" opened in Melbourne, before the city becomes European capital of culture and is populated by tourists. The owner's passion has allowed us to collect various objects of country life, collecting them in one of the finest exhibitions of the city. The collection includes every tool and object, which has been meticulously restored and arranged in order to expose. The owner guided us along the various rooms of the House telling us various anecdotes related to the history of Matera and its inhabitants. Really amazing collection and knowledge of the landlord. I highly recommend visiting this place, a real blast from the past of Matera!;)

  • We admired Matera in its views, in its streets, its churches and its inhabitants. But what we will take home in the heart it is this museum. We wanted to visit it and it was worth it. Thanks to those who let us in "life in the sassi" .... ... walking in rooms, see collected objects, ... grandparents and their stories again ... life is hard and tiring. You can only appreciate who strives daily to keep alive all humanity that stems from what is seen ... from what you imagine ... from what you are told because it belongs to the origins of many of us. A thank you for how we were greeted ... for what we've been dedicated ... was an enrichment for us and left us a desire to return. A close and affectionate greeting by his mother Sabrina and the two girls curious to know his cats.

  • This museum is the result of 30 years of work of Mr.Carlos welcome you and answer all your questions about life in the sassi. The laboratory museum recreates the environments of those who once lived in the sassi with ' objects, furniture and pictures. It's a real blast from the past. I recommend it to all visitors. The Council also read the book of short stories translated into English Museum that collects testimonies of those who lived in the sassi.
