  • Very interesting the exhibits inside the Museum and the historic route recreated is packed with references to the history of Matera. Being, however, a National Archaeological Museum, which is preparing to host the 2019 — the year when Matera will be European capital of culture, it would be appropriate that they be improved some aspects. In some areas of the Museum lacked the light (especially in the area where there are reconstructions of the caves with cave paintings). The music of the route on Mars too high and competing among themselves to changing parts of the path (regardless of whether the view is permanent or not). Finally some rudeness from one part of the Museum staff, who asked whether the animals had allowed turned badly saying it wasn't possible to get dogs for hygiene reasons (should it get some child). Note: if it were banned (which is not, and also tourism Matera there was nowhere else prohibition of entry for animals) we should at least offer a viable alternative. In my case they opted to let the dog in a small garden inside the Museum. Would be curious to see the faces of those who, traveling accompanied by animals at the time of the event of 2019, must leave their dogs, all together, in one small garden.

  • Is a nice Museum, rich in many exhibits and in addition makes you realize how many discoveries have been made in the outskirts of the city. Definitely recommend it.

  • It is a truly amazing Museum! However, if you do not read Italian, take a guide or a dictionary. Mine of wealth.

  • Nice collection of archaeological finds from the area of Matera, especially the painted ceramics from the Magna Graecia period. A couple of good exhibits for children.
  • Interesting museum pity that is totally outdated the only explanation of what you see are small labels more adapt to a library catalogue than a visiting group with little or no historical context
  • Rich Magno-Greek archaeology collection with wonderful collection exhibited in 2018 very charming the exhibition also in experimental archaeology of prehistoric part with the reconstruction of a cave with the most important engravings and examples of rock art, fascinating reconstruction of prehistoric Hut. The archaeological section covering the period "Magna Grecia" exposes real charming jewelry, for the exceptional State of preservation, elegance and beauty of decorations. Small, charming the anthropological section with articles of Matera. Absolutely exquisite unique is the room dedicated to Ridola with all objects and documents related to this great and wonderful character di archeologia della Lucania

  • Unfortunately I was not allowed to visit, because I had with me a dog (very good) of medium size. Accurate, as established by the fairness in matters of civil life, I was in possession in muzzle bag, but I was not given the opportunity to discuss. Certainly I have missed an opportunity. Offresi in return, food for thought.
