Visit the ninth-century frescoes of the artist known as the “Painter of Flowers of Matera” at Cripta del Peccato Originale. Lying among southern Italy's vineyards and wheat fields, this rock wall cavity is known as the “Sistine Chapel of Rock Art,” and contains some of the oldest rupestrian art of the region. The frescoes, interpreting Old and New Testament stories, have recently been restored to their original glory. • Hard to find if you go yourself. There are no directions to get there, no help. better to go with a tour. One is literally speechless ... Great help in explaining! Creepy place, positive.

  • Unique and unmissable. The painter of flowers a genius as an artist. The most impressive iconography is Eve eating the fruit of sin, a fig! Mandatory stop for lunch at the "Cellar Dragon", great food and top wine. You're asking the price of lunch? I don't know if I can say:-) ... only € 17.00/skull.

  • It is an extraordinary site! Incidentally I don't hardly ever use this adjective overused cliché, but here it takes! I can't describe because it must be a personal impact, as much as possible ... without previous information. I will just say that there's a limited number (I think 12 people) to access it and that it is then organized very, very well within ... Basta!
