  • It owes its name to the feudal Lord who wanted to build, count Tramontano, starting from the first decades of the 16th century. Il castello aragonese style, has three towers, with openly defensive purpose. It was never inhabited, because the materani murdered 29 April 1514, which the landowner the tyrant for the construction of the building had imposed hefty taxes and low wages. An episode so engraved in memory from being remembered in the escutcheon where it is written: "Bos lassus firmius figit pedem" meaning "ox tired sinks paw more firmly".

  • Nice from the outside. At the time I was there was under restoration and therefore not explored inside. Are not able to make a judgment on the merits

  • The castle is in good position, stands almost on top of one of the hills of Matera. Is not open to the public since being renovated.
