  • Stunning place, where you can see all the wonder of the area and the Apuan coast. To discover.

  • Nice first because it is an exceptional mix. I have visited many facilities of this type: often just big walls with one or more. towers around town centres. Or other become mansions with little remnants of earlier medieval structures. Here, however, you will find the oldest Castle which dates back to the year thousand still intact and around the facilities added in three centuries to reach the 16th century gunboat that dominates the town below the sea. And then, beyond a small doorway, you will discover the amazing jewel of this impressive and austere fortress. The beautiful Renaissance mansion that the Marquis Malaspina had built, in the innermost courtyard, fully decorated facades and a ritzy pit in the backyard. Inside large rooms well kept and beautiful loggias. If you go in Versilia you can't miss it!

  • Passing through the area, intrigued, I devoted an hour to visit the Castle and it was worth it! The castle is fairly well maintained, the price is reduced (5.50 euros) and is open almost in its entirety, both externally and internally. Very interesting stylistic balance, between the medieval part with purely defensive function and the Renaissance of the inner court, princely and quite impressive. From the Castle you can enjoy a great view, both from the sea that the side of the mountain. The only flaw is that there are few explanations and the few informative plaques are somewhat damaged and obsolete. Anyway a nice find, recommended to all, even to those who are not a fan of history or art.

  • Pros: very nice and great view. Cons: a little difficult to drive and very little parking. Inside of the Castle a bit gaunt

  • Very nice and impressive, thank you for the info and help local anecdotes. Apart from being a nice place to visit, remember that annually hosts the Spino Fiorito, a kind of celebration of wine which you can not miss!
