  • Traverse the tunnels to see the machinery that served the mining industry in its hey day, all placed here by former miners.

  • This was an interesting tour/museum. You are given earphones and a control but you also have a guide leading you though. The problem was that our guide wanted to go to lunch so before we could finish ...  more »
  • This museum is build in old mines. It is interesting if you are into minerals or mining history. For the casual visitor I found it to be quite boring. The guided visit is in Italian only. For non-Italians you can get a virtual guides in English, French or German.

  • The Palace of arms today is home to the Museum of mining art and history: the Museum represents the natural deepening aspects of mining production say this territory that, already in the 13th century, wrote the first mining law that European history memories: the mining code of Massa Marittima. Inside you can see a rich photographic and cartographic documentation, a collection of minerals and interesting work tools tell different times. In March 2001 reopened its doors, after a thorough and scientific reorganization supervised by University of Siena, which made it very enjoyable and readable. Along with the plans of the territory and to photos and diagrams depicting the development of mines, two rooms on the top floor of the building, housing among other things tracks in meullo and wood, working clothes, baskets, metal, food, equipment and a rich collection of minerals of the area including two "stumps" of brown coal of Valdarno.

  • Beautiful sightseeing tour guide very helpful. Cost €5 per person. Tour duration approximately 45 minutes. 700 metres on the flat, only the last three meters are small stairs to drop off and pick up. Well-lit and spacious, but it's still a mine with Rails and vintage machinery. If you are claustrophobic do not enter.

  • The Museum is the exact reproduction of a mine, despite being only a production of 700 metres, well thanks to help you understand how works were carried out underground in the years 1950-1996

  • an exciting path inside of galleries arranged in the years ' 80 by the miners themselves
