  • A museum that surprises. It is true that it is granted a museum like that in Italy, but we were surprised by how well organized. The lady who greeted us by giving us a great introduction. Then it runs well and is really beautiful. Don't miss the model input and the ability to use big scissors with gloves places next to a shrine.

  • Practically unique, the Museum tells the history and exhibits the best of what characterizes this town: the knives and the blacksmith. Basically, blades of all kinds. Visit required to complete the knowledge and history of Maniago.

  • The Museum is located inside the former spinning mill Cadel, built in 1922 and aims is the illustration of the systems to which you used in the past for machining steel in factories in Maniago, both the technological evolution that occurred over time within them. Through playing Smithies, of environments and workshops, the Museum wants to revive the visitor a technological reconstruction of the history of cutlery, linked through the centuries to the different energy supply. Originally, in fact, towards the middle of the fifteenth century, were the waterfalls (one is visible just behind the former textile mill) to produce the necessary energy to the work of the company; in the 18th century, however, more refined the technique to work, was the human energy to develop and disseminate in the country the production of cutting tools. In these shops you produce sharpeners, scissors, table knives, grafting, snap, multipurpose pocket and a wide range of surgical instruments. With the advent of electricity, becomes finally possible ganged machining by the use of specific machines (the workshop), greatly increasing the work capacity. The first factory (the Marx & c.) is built in Maniago in the years preceding the first world war. The Museum is divided into three sections that represent the significant moments in the history of the work of the Smiths:-the formation of the company; -training workshop, which starts in 18 ^ century inside of housing:-the establishment of the first workshops at the beginning of 1900
