Reach the summit of Mountbaldo via a cable car stationed in Malcesine. The cable-car ride rises to 1,600 m (5,249 ft) in just ten minutes, taking you to an altitude of 1,760 m (1 mi). Hike to the top for views of Lake Garda. Rest your legs at one of the cafes at the peak. Mountain temperatures are much cooler, so bring a jacket. Work out when and for how long to visit Mountbaldo and other Malcesine attractions using our handy Malcesine route maker tool.
Stunning, but recommend you get the cable car back down. We walked down and neither of us could walk for the next three days, we are experienced hikers too!! Took us a few hours more »
100% worth going up Monte Baldo. We took the cable car which is in two sections. The second section turns 360degrees as you go up so everyone gets to see all the views. Stunning once you get up... more »
The views are stunning, and the weather is refreshing after the heat around the lake. The only downside was the wait for the funivie back to Malcesine, at least an hour of queuing. Recomend coming... more »
Such a beautiful view!! Prepare for some waiting time for the cable cat. But the reward is a stunning view on the make and its surroundings.
Great view! Get tickets at the Malcesine info center and you won't have to wait in a queue for tickets
The line for the cable car is fast and you can reach the top fast. There's a nice bar up there. The view is absolutely amazing and you can go even higher on your own. Nice hiking routes.
When visiting Lake Garda, a trip to the top of Monte Baldo is a wonderful way to take in the beauty of the area. There is a cable car from the town of Malcesine... the ride takes about 25 minutes in two stages. When you exit the station at the top, turn to you left and walk up the short hill. Then walk for about 15 minutes to the best viewpoint. Well worth it. For the more adventurous, there are some seriously long trekking paths but you need to have the right gear. We went up just before 10 am and there was only a small queue. However, we were told that later in the day it can take an hour of queuing to get onto the cable car.
The view is breathtaking! Unfortunately the time for the cable car 🚠 is horrible! Even with the tickets bought via internet we spent more than 1.5 hours in both directions waiting for the place in the cable car. It is very risky to go there after 3 pm if you travel with ferry from Limone or other city- because of the queue and the delays we missed the last ferry (19.20) and had to take the taxi. Please remember that the temperature on the top is much lower than in the Malcesine.
