  • In Maiori, always remembering the beautiful homes of decades ago I revisited the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria del Mare from ancient history built in the 13th century on a church dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, following the discovery of a wooden statue of the Madonna found on beach, apparently abandoned there by sailors. The statue now stands on the altar, where it is taken to be transported to a thrilling procession near the sea in two festivals that of August I have many times seen and the end of November "Patronage" that I would like to see this year. The procession that ends with 127 steps in a hurry, with the gang, (beautiful brasses) is like the panorama from the Belvedere, a suggestion only the history and soul of Maiori! Pope Julius II awarded him as a collegiate church, and one thousand eight hundred was Marian shrine. Beautiful majolica Dome, beautiful coffered ceiling, the Tabernacle, the organ and the crypt with the Museum where there are religious vestments, votive offerings, fabrics. The priest everyone speaks well and even volunteers and the sacristan were friendly, the view is nicer at sunset and if you as a couple made me want to write about seeing the destruction of ancient churches and stunning destroyed forever by the earthquake and also by IMHO inefficiency of too many responsible for their defence against such high seismic risk areas could be moved. Remember that somewhere was done But you spend for the kids and artistuncoli not hambones, pretending to carry out political activity. for unnatural unions and not to preserve what we have in the world truly unique Are pessimistic about polituncoli it takes great love and true interest in cultural heritage and also true competence and non-fiction and politics show. Greetings to Maria de Gennaro Castaldo

  • After the Cathedral, is the second main church in Amalfi. Of course, after seeing the Cathedral, this sounds like a chiusucola insignificant, but nevertheless has its charm.

  • HISTORY of the PARISH is in an indication of 1049 (Mercatello) from Angellara, that today takes its name from the Creek of the same name, «locubia», on site River joint «anguillerium». In this village there was a chapel in 1309: «San Giovanni de Angelario» with the Rector John de Ruggiero. At the same time you know but also the Church of "s. Maria ad mare», with the Rector John Daphne, remembered later in 1338 with the same designation. The April 10, 1341 the Vicar General of the Archbishop Benedict De Capua, John Gattola, issued a judgment establishing conclusively that the Church of "s. Maria ad mare de loco lucubie forie Salerni» era of free collation of the Archbishop, against the alleged right of patronage by some Mariella, wife of Richard Marchisano. This, after the death of the priest James Currilli ' olim ipsius ecclesie presbiteri et Chaplains ', presented at avveva ' Curia in rectorem et cappellanum pro rectore seu eiusdem ecclesie» don Giacomo Multobene, from Salerno. However, opposing the notary Nicholas Trimino, from Salerno, Attorney of the Curia, that Jake was unable to prove his alleged right. Already a parish in 1574, as Archiepiscopal Bubble to appoint the parish priest. Pastor lists s.Maria a sea between the parishes of Foria of Salerno in Pastena. And «s. Maria a Mare of Pastena» is called in the Bull of appointment as parish priest of don Mario Pacheco, from January 13, 1819 Saragnano, appointed after the death of don Matteo Picariello.
