  • The parish was built in the 13th century by expanding the existing church dedicated to Archangel Michael. It is situated on a hill in the Centre of the town and takes its name from the statue that has been handed down has been found in 1204 on the adjacent beach. It was awarded the title of Collegiate Church in 1506 by Pope Julius II, the building has undergone numerous renovations and restorations, including that of 1836 executed by the architect Pietro Valente. The building consists of three naves, the central one characterized by a coffered ceiling, commissioned by families Makala, Lanner and De Ponte, which covers the vault of the nave and was executed in 1529 by the Neapolitan artist Alessandro de Fulco. The Church has a sacristy, built only in the year 1866 and a crypt which houses the remains of San Clemente and where is the museo d'Arte sacra "Don Clemente Confalone". The Church was elevated to the Marian shrine in the year 1973 with the Archbishop's Decree. The external façade is in eighteenth-century style and is flanked by a tower, dating from the 14th century, having a hemispherical dome covered with Vietri style majolica.

  • So far, climbed the hill where the Temple of Holy Mary, admire the surroundings, doing a lot of photos. Very beautiful majolica Panel at the entrance to the marine theme. da Temple beautiful, Italian light and warm ... We are fortunate to have the attendant who was there invited us to a small museum. There are many interesting exhibits associated with the life and the sea.
