  • I find the Pavaglione a truly enjoyable and a beautiful example of circular architecture: recommend a walk if you live nearby!

  • As soon as you arrive in town you notice it immediately for the size. Work on the building began shortly after the mid 1700 and ended a dozen years later, anticipating nearly modern urbanistic solutions. It is an imposing portico, which stands on the site of a more ancient porch late-16th century. When shortly after the mid 1500, was demolished the Citadel, which represented the center of medieval fortified and walled Lugo, in front of the building remained a huge lawn crossed by paths and surrounded by two ditches of water. On that lawn Alfonso II d'Este ordered him to build, with debris from the destroyed Citadel, "a lodge of 200 and more than 40 feet in length and in breadth". The porticoed structure was to allow the admission of militias and horses, as well as shelter to merchants in the occasion of the annual Fair in September and weekly market. In particular every Wednesday held that silkworms (papilio in Latin) and since, for the delicacy of the goods, it was necessary to cover with a tarp the space occupied by merchants, the place was referred to as "Hall of follicelli from silk", then gradually, with an obvious French, "Pavilion" and finally "Pavaglione". Worthy of a visit.

  • Unique this beautiful portico hosts and housed the commercial heart of the city since the Renaissance. The only flaw the nearby buildings that have partly distorted should be deleted and restored to a proper and more coherent outline of history and architecture.

  • There is a brewery, and close a room for wining and dining. The pavaglione itself is not justification for a visit dedicated to lugo. Vale la pela go there when there are vintage markets

  • One of two characteristic places of Lugo. Often we organize street markets (in fact it was designed as a meeting place and city market)

  • One of the historical places symbols of Lugo recently renovated is home to numerous shops and is used for many events.

  • Lugo and point of reference for many meetings and events such as the biennial fair that takes place in September. Recently its interior has been renovated. Shops, a pub, an Inn and bar complete the four sides of the building.
