  • The monument is impressive and watch it from below makes a certain impression. Contrasts decidedly with the rest of the big square (in particular with the rock and the Pavaglione) but has an aura of grandeur, is the wing that the statue of Shack.

  • Francesco Baracca, Aviator and gold medal for bravery in World War I, with its hunting SPAD XIII. (still on display in the Museum Shed a few steps) is said to have won 34 duels aerie. Famous not only for this. On the side of his plane there was the prancing horse symbol of her family (I think with the inscription Ad Majora) that the widow says gift ' to Enzo Ferrari

  • Francesco Baracca, born in Lugo, Gold Medal of military valor, was an Italian World War I aviation hero. After his death in battle, were promoted initiatives to celebrate local hero. The imposing monument to Francesco Baracca-located on the great piazza of Lugo dedicated to him opened in 1936, is intellectual work of the sculptor Domenico Rambelli Romagna. The big bronze statue is placed on a pedestal, travertine, indicating the Aviator WINS and on the sides of the wing, also of travertine, are carved symbols of departments whose Shack belonged in chivalry and Aeronautics: the prancing horse with the motto "Ad Maiora" and the Hippogriff (91 ^ squadron). The imposing volumes-the statue, the wing and the base – are well balanced and of great symbolic value. The prancing horse appears on the first aircraft piloted by Francesco Baracca, until 1917 when it formed the 91 ^ Escadrille Airplanes ... On the right side of the fuselage of these aircraft pilots used to apply their personal insignia and Shack adopts as just that by turning from black prancing horse silver. Writes the Maranello carmaker Enzo Ferrari, the constructor – great Italian excellence-in his meeting with the mother of Francesco Baracca: "Ferrari, put on its machines the prancing horse of my son. The luck "the horse was and remained black; I added the Canary Fund which is the colour of Modena ". The symbol of the prancing yielded by the mother of Shack for luck to Enzo Ferrari has become the emblem of the Ferrari brand and prestigious racing Division, much appreciated and recognized in the world.
