  • The largest square in Lucca was built in 1806. Now the square is the center of the cultural life of the city: there's an ice rink in winter, the flea market, a carousel for children, summer music festivals are held. The square is surrounded by plane trees. Truly not to be missed!

  • A large and impressive square which is one of the vital centers of the city with entertainment, shopping and dining. Very vital is also home to many events. We visited during the long weekend of December 8 and was full of characteristic stalls stretching beside an ice rink. So much life and energy.

  • Beautiful square where Christmas can also find an ice rink and stalls. Also known as the piazza grande.

  • Lucca is a lovely old style town that has a romantic feel to it as you walk down its narrow streets. The square is a lively place to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Many restraunts nearby just dont live up to their name serving very average dishes.
  • I'm probably being unfair in my review as I was in Lucca on a day when nothing special was going on. In general it's a fairly ordinary piazza so unless something is specifically happening it's not worth visiting. The cafes and gelato surrounding the piazza are average as well.
  • Lovely square which had a market on the day off our visit. Well worth a look.
  • Lucca is a cracking day out from Pisa by train, only takes 30mins a must see. Walk the back streets and the city walk very romantic place.
  • Piazza was taken up a massive stage and hoardings for the Lucca Summer Festival, so didn't get a chance to appreciate it in its full glory. But what I saw I liked.
