Museo Orto Botanico, Lucca

(300+ reviews on the web)
Garden
When the city gets too noisy, head to Museo Orto Botanico and rest among the lush plants and quiet scenery. Established by the Duchess of Parma, Marie Louise, in 1820, the botanical gardens contain an extensive collection of plant species. Start by exploring the arboretum and pond (keep your eye out for the resident fish). When you're finished, move on to the second section to view the greenhouse, botanical schools, and laboratories. If you have time, stop at the botanical museum, Cesare Bicchi, to see the herbarium and archive. Plan your visit to Museo Orto Botanico and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Lucca travel itinerary maker.

  • What a wonderful place to stay at the hottest time of the day! You find interesting flowers and trees and even miniatures for blind people for their imagination. There are many benches to sit in shadow and a big collection of any kinds of plants.
  • In city center, close to town walls, large variety of plants and trees, some of them very rare. Must see. Entrance tickets at ~5Eur
  • Some really fantastic flowers depending on what time of year you visit, also has a fantastic little pond chockablock with massive carp and turtles
  • Not so big and kind of boring, but something different to see. Facilities available. You can get one ticket for 9 euro for 3 attraction including 2 towers, which is cheaper than buy separately.
  • Wonderfull botanic gardina!
