Partendo da Poppi si arriva su in cima in 30/35 minuti. La strada è erta, stretta ma tutta asfaltata. The road is steep, narrow but all paved. Joints near the restaurant Da Giocondo (about 1400 m), there is the last km dirt road, which is stony il pratone. When you arrive at pratone work is not yet finished because there are 40 minutes uphill walk to the cross. But I'm 40 minutes well spent because as you climb you hatch the valleys below, before the Casentino (if you turn backwards) and then the Valdarno while walking on mountain ridge from the cippo Hinkler to the cross.
Il panorama delle due vallate ripaga ampiamente della lunga strada per arrivarci! Meraviglioso!!!!!! more »The views of the two valleys repays widely of the long road to get there! Wonderful!!
Sono arrivato alla croce del Pratomagno in un'ora e mezza partendo da Firenze. The route is expected to exit Valdarno, Loro Ciuffenna, inerpicamento for a crossing of zigzag road through various villages, of which the latest is Trap to nearly 900 m After a further two to three turns of very narrow street you intercept the panoramic road of Pratomagno and you take it to the left. Attention. From here the road is not always open, in summer I found it open and well accessible, but in other seasons can occur that is closed and then goodbye cross ... The overview after a few hundred meters from the junction becomes a comfortable macadam macadam. The road is really very scenic and follows the shoreline of the mountain climbing up slowly until the tunnel of Pratomagno, which, at an altitude of 1400 metres above sea level in just a few metres from the port side of the Valdarno that of Casentino. Here turn right and a dirt road leads to a clearing with a restaurant (from Sparky). Turn right and the road climbs gradually up to the cross of Pratomagno, where they start cacuminali meadows of Pratomagno. In the parking lot of the Shelter you leave your car in just a few minutes walk you are at Poggio Pianellaccio, highest summit of Pratomagno, nearly 1600 m altitude a.s.l. Turning left along the Ridge, you will reach quickly the second Summit of Pratomagno, marked by the High Cross of Pratomagno.
The cross of Pratomagno had inaugurated the day of August of 1928:1591 meters a.s.l. It is a large cross that dominates the modular Iron Mountain area and is visible from a great distance. The Pratomagno is a very complex system, characterized by different environments that are the fruit of his great extension and the work of man, as evidenced by the large Prairies Ridge which gives its name to the mountain range: prato magno equal big meadow (magnus in Latin means great). Near the cross grazing cattle and horses in the wild: a few minutes walk to the West, characterized by some antennas, is the peak of Mount Pianellaccio, which with its 1593 m a.s.l. is the highest point of the whole chain. In the year 2013 the cross of Pratomagno it has been totally restored.
Wonderful place. A huge lawn on the top of the mountain from where you can enjoy views of Tuscany in 360 degrees. Here the reference point is the cross of Pratomagno.
Highest point of Pratomagno where you have the view of Casentino and Valdarno. Ideal to be achieved by those who want to hike soft
The top of "our" great mountain Views and full immersion in nature
When you're born in Tuscany you can't not love the cross of Pratomagno ... starting point of the Casentino Valley from where it dominates the whole valley as far as Arezzo and Florence including all the Valdarno Valley ... the gaze is lost from the Apennines to the Chianti mountains
