  • The castle of letters, built in the 10th century for the defence of the Duchy of Amalfi, expanded and modified several times, the Normans, Angevins, Aragonese, an imposing limestone building, overlooking the Sarno valley and the Gulf of Castellammare di Stabia. The last recent restoration highlights the walls and defensive towers, the old Cathedral as well as the remains of buildings, houses and a church, the village Castrum Licterensis. The castle is also the starting point for interesting and enjoyable Trek.

  • the castle was built at the behest of the amalfitani letters becoming outpost guarding the Duchy. Was later expanded by the Normans that the Swabians, reaching under the Angevins the height of its splendour by building new towers and the introduction of firearms. With the arrival of the Aragonese, lost its military function and was transformed into a private residence, before being completely abandoned, being reduced to a ruin. It was subsequently restored in the late 20th century.

  • Visited in tacky Christmas markets, entry costs 1.50 euros. Breathtaking! structure feature! well preserved. Games for children, and stalls with Christmas products and food, not impressed me apart from some of them. Maybe on this issue you can do better in the coming years. Queue to climb the Tower, 10 people at a time to ensure stability and security, it's worth it to see the crib and enjoy the views from the top. I don't know if it is open also at other times of the year, less the case is worth a visit! Perhaps following the road from Gragnano/casola, more linear (but large) than that followed by us from the highway exit in angri, narrow and uphill.
