  • Il colle Taji, where insite on so-called "parco archeologico del Castellaccio", all my life I can see silhouetted over my head, almost threatening and badly prepared, like the San Mauro indeed, but much more looming, and the St Eligius, the highest of the three hills above the Valley of the mythical River Lisso, where there is my home. Now, despite the closeness and knowledge of places that kept the whole story of Leontinoi, bristling and steep that Hill I went once, or at least, one occasion I had to find the site and be able to visit what remains of an archaeological complex load of historical epochs and civilizations that have crossed over each other as if it was the venue of choice for anyone who has wanted to assert its presence there. From the Neolithic to the middle ages, through the hegemony Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab and Christian you notice traces of great historical and archaeological heritage that testify to the strategic interest that Taji has aroused in all those who wanted to exploit a natural defense against an attacker. The places are very beautiful, the scenery is special for those who know where to look and what to look for, and fantasy fly high if you have the time and desire to do whatever the. You have to go there to understand, and it is essential to insert the visit in a much wider and complex path that would include archaeological areas very often impassable but inevitable, if we want to embrace the sense of a very special site. I am visiting them and continuously from my il Castellaccio Takada terrace, especially at night when, after sunset, the rocks turn pink for a time always too short. Is a magical moment that suspends time and takes me back into that fruitful and sumptuous Greek: see Gorgias overlooking from his home on the Taji and aims the West on fire by last rays of Sun. In the Valley, under the spur of San Mauro, ordinary people is heading towards home and a thousand lanterns light up here and there, in a blaze of innocent voices that conclude the day.
