  • The porta Rudiae represents one of the three gateways to the city. In almost perfect conditions, as well as the other two doors, represents the opposite edge of the city, that practically poles apart than sant'oronzo, the amphitheatre and the duomo. For us has been pretty much the end of the walk through the streets of the Centre of this magnificent city.

  • Visiting Lecce as a tourist pass for this port is part of the program, is one of the 3 doors giving access to the old town. From here take the via Libertini which brings you directly to piazza sant'oronzo. The arch is formed by four columns and a statue of Saint Oronzo. Advice to tourists a ride to this beautiful door.

  • Very nice. In the evening is very well lit. In fact it is a beautiful way to enter the city and on the course. Going to do it all very calmly because every view and reserve corner surprises.

  • The arch is very nice, the friezes and statues are in good condition. And the finest of the three ancient gates of the town. The point is quite busy and there are no panels or totem explaining what it represents and what is depicted. The square is not called Piazzale Rudiae, which is 500 meters away.

Its present appearance is the result of a rebuilding in 1703 by Giuseppe Cino. It is surmounted by a statue of St. Oronzo's side are statues of St. Irene and s. Domenico, backing out of a frieze, supported by two columns and capitals, on which were carved busts of the mythical founders of the city: Mallenio, Dauno, Euippa and Idomeneo is the one which has the most direct access to the beautiful baroque city long taunted them we find the Church of the Rosary to follow the former Conservatory s. • Porta Rudiae is the most majestic gateway to the historic city of Lecce. It is accessed from Viale Portal giving you switch between modern City University and at Lecce a few centuries ago, feels like you are stepping back in time. From here the course going from Piazza del Duomo will take you to Piazza Sant'Oronzo.
