  • Lecce Cathedral is consecrated to St. Oronzo, who is said to have been brought to faith St Paul himself. Faith will take him to Greece and Rome, where Christians at that time were persecuted for their beliefs. San Oronzo will be beheaded. Bishop Pappacuta will restore the Cathedral is no longer able to contain all the faithful. Accomplice a crash that danneggìo the Duomo and campanile, the structures were redesigned in Baroque style. Until the end of 1500, the town didn't have a decided artistic style recognizable. He became an emblem of the Baroque that permeated completely, and "Lecce like no other Italian city now has only one so visible style" Berkeley. The stone made this possible. Soft as wax just pulled out, allowed artists to shape it easily as only the Greeks did, which even they lived here centuries ago. Exposed to air then becomes hard as travertine, and unchangeable throughout the centuries, in his candour in the light of the sunset as Amber marble Candide. As in Rome the facades of Lecce are adorned with columns, pillars, vases of flowers, animals and details. Even smaller houses are tasteful, with balconies, ballotoi, columns and capitals. Lecce seals over time infinite beauty. A Baroque beauty

  • Of town I've seen a lot, but the beauty of Lecce is unique. The city of Lecce called the Florence of the South is a impressionamente beauty, combined with the availability and kindness of the locals. A must see, armed with good will and a great camera or video camera to bring you a piece of this city with you. I guarantee that it will remain in your heart
